Effectionhate on Radio Free Satan

February 10th, 2010 | Category: For Those About To Rock...Wide World Of Satanism

Multi-instrumentalist Shannon Gardner-Gausten, frontwoman of the experimental industrial project Effectionhate, is the featured subject of the latest episode of the “HeArtist’s Darkest Ends” program on Radio Free Satan. During the intimate 70-minute conversation, Gardner-Gausten discusses a variety of topics including her music and art projects, Satanism, witchcraft, BDSM relationships, voodoo and the Day of the Dead. The program also includes a demo recording of the Effectionhate track “Bleeding Out,” which is slated to appear on the group’s upcoming album, Music Is Dead. The program can be heard in its entirety here.

Gardner-Gausten is a Witch in the Church of Satan and has served as a media representative for the organization. Her artwork appeared in her husband Joel Gausten’s 2009 book, Words From the Third Side: Essays on Sex, Satan & Success (for which she also contributed an essay on BDSM culture) and will appear in the upcoming second edition of Gausten’s 2006 book, Tales of Horror: The History of The Misfits & The Undead.

Formed in 2007 and experimental in nature, Effectionhate creates noise ranging from techno to classical and atonal industrial noise, with the project’s evolving list of contributors ensuring that no two compositions are alike.

Effectionhate currently features full-time member Joel Gausten, a veteran of such bands as Pigface, The Undead and Electric Frankenstein. Contributors include drummer Martin Atkins (Pigface, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Public Image Limited) and guitarist Sonny Bellavance. Music Is Dead is slated for a late 2010/early 2011 release. Diabolus Rex: New Art, New Focus

rex

from the Infernal Pen of Diabolus Rex Church:

As of 2009 I have laid down my airbrushes indefinitely. Those who have followed my work over the years are aware of the mediums that have served me, steel being of primary importance.

I am entering the next stage of my work as an artist and am dedicating myself to the discipline of metal sculpture exclusively, to include cutting, welding, forming, etching, casting, and machining. I feel strongly that I have done as much as I will with the airbrush without repeating myself, or worse yet, becoming part of a common design style worthy of nothing but derision. I have completed only a few paintings since 1996 having dedicated the majority of my studio time to the development of designs for my Ragnaroc Engine.

Several projects within my airbrush design spectrum remain unfinished but not without legitimate reason. My “Diabolus Rex’s Tarot of Satan”, a massive work I began as a series of drawings in 1978 will not see completion particularly because of the distribution of the “Tarot of the Underworld” by HR Giger and Arkon. This work which designates itself as a dark side tarot was nevertheless composed by and conceptualized by Swiss hippies and OTO members who have no connection to Satanism whatsoever. As a white light tarot would not have sold as well as one courting the Left hand Path, it still is a manifestation of playing the Devil’s game without taking the Devil’s name. Those who engage in such activities need be wary of the unpleasant consequences of such actions. Point being, my work which already draws comparisons to Giger need not become a cliche for biomechanics given the fact that I have design ideas and project conceptualizations which go far beyond anything in the current dark art genre regardless of the artists in question.

In the mid 90’s when tattooing was at its zenith the industry went crazy for anything “biomechanic” and every hipster who picked up an a tattoo gun or airbrush obsessed over imagery of this type which continues to this day, making Giger the most over replicated artist since Salvador Dali, perhaps even more so. This stylistic over-saturation is so prevalent that serious galleries will not even consider displaying art that emulates or bears semblance to techno-organics. If you couple this fact to the common phenomena of applying airbrushed demonic imagery to cars, skateboards, snowboards, motorcycles and other worthless toys of the hipster peasantry, the continued exercise of creation within this style becomes self-defeating.

This is not to say I am completely abandoning my own unique “art necro” approach to design. I have been quietly, and with precise dedication organizing stylistic elements of my earlier sculptural work into a vision I call “Apocalypse Expressionism”. This stylization manifests itself into a profile combining ancient cultural death motif, repeating design themes mimicking technology welded to aspects of “Ruin Value” wasted and exhausted industrial futurism. I have combined these elements to sentics, metanimics, dominant mass principle, Law of the Trapezoid, cursed architecture, and the command to look. It is my intention within the next several weeks to display these elements in my current Opus Diaboli, the 60,000 lb. demon generating forge, the “Ragnaroc Engine”. I have spoken of this project only briefly within my circle of friends, but as this Infernal Machine is ramping up for scrutiny, I will invite interested friends and associates to look at my designs and current face of this work for critical magickal analysis.

Quotes from the Book of Satanic Quotations

“But here steps in Satan, the eternal rebel, the first free-thinker and emancipator of worlds. He makes man ashamed of his bestial ignorance and obedience; he emancipates him, stamps upon his brow the seal of liberty and humanity, in urging him to disobey and eat of the fruit of knowledge.”

- Mikhail Bakunin

“The bizarre world of cards… a world of pure power politics where rewards and punishments were meted out immediately. A deck of cards was built like the purest of hierarchies, with every card a master to those below it a lackey to those above it.”

- Ely Culbertson

“What I am about to say does not concern the ordinary man of our day. On the contrary, I have in mind the man who finds himself involved in today’s world, even at its most problematic and paroxysmal points; yet he does not belong inwardly to such a world, nor will he give in to it. He feels himself, in essence, as belonging to a different race from that of the overwhelming majority of his contemporaries.”

- Julius Evola

“You can die from someone else’s misery — emotional states are as infectious as diseases. You may feel you are helping the drowning man but you are only precipitating your own disaster. The unfortunate sometimes draw misfortune on themselves; they will also draw it on you.”

- Robert Greene

Are They Talking About Us Again?

November 11th, 2009 | Category: Tales From The HerdWide World Of Satanism

Michael writes: The Morne Harmse saga finally came to an end last week when the so-called “Ninja boy” was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing a fellow pupil and wounding three other people at the Nic Diederichs Technical High School in Krugersdorp last year… As far as the Satanism angle is concerned, perhaps the most relevant statement in this regard received scant attention – the one made by Peter Gilmore, high priest of the Church of Satan, who said that “such killings are contrary to the philosophy of Satanism.” As it turns out, Gilmore also expressed one of the most sensible sentiments regarding the supposed influence of music on Harmse’s actions. “People are horrified when a person snaps and kills innocent victims and they look for easy answers – there are none. At such times of shock and grief it is important not to scapegoat a song or a band or a religion to get a quick answer,” he wrote. Now that Harmse’s trial is over, and it is clear that what he did had nothing to do with either Satanism or heavy metal, what is conspicuous by its absence is a discussion about something that did actually contribute to his lethal actions…

VJack writes: What most of us think of when we hear the term “Satanism” does not really deserve to be called Satanism at all. Think of this as the catch-all category containing all the various forms of unorganized mysticism involving dark, Satanic themes with which many American teenage metal fans are fascinated. This is the form that Christians tend to become hysterical about, to exaggerate, and which the American media loves to cover. If you lived in the U.S. during the 1980s, you’ll know exactly what I mean. I am not proud of this at all, but this is the form of Satanism in which I dabbled as a teenage metal fan. I still love metal, the darker and more “evil” the better, but I’ve outgrown the desire to emulate these darker themes. But back in the day, I was into this stuff. I never sacrificed anything, robbed graves, or did most of the other things that the media wanted you to believe was epidemic in the 80s… The second form of Satanism is what I want to focus on, the real Satanism. It is the religious philosophy and ritual established by Anton Szandor LaVey in the form of the Church of Satan and described in The Satanic Bible. From this point on, this is what I am referring to when I use the term “Satanism.”

“admin” writes: “Inside the Church of Satan” includes a lengthy, candid interview with Peter H. Gilmore, High Priest of the Church of Satan, along with a witch, priests, and members of various ranks. Warren asks questions probing most aspects of their agenda and beliefs. “My goal was to create a movie, addressing all of life’s most difficult issues, that would give the audience a complete understanding of what the Church of Satan is about, for better or for worse,” Warren notes. “After this experience, I feel our governments do reflect Satanic principles.” Sprinkled with satire, the film addresses all from sacrifice and murder to political positions regarding the Biblical “mark of the beast” and 666… Warren says, “Frankly, I don’t know why they allowed me as the first person in so many decades. They said they thought I was the right guy at the right time. So I did my best. And yes, as you’ll see, I was surprised by what I found.”

beyondghosts writes: Here is an encore episode from May 2009 of our interview with High Priest and Leader of the Church of Satan, Mr. Peter H. Gilmore. This is one of our best shows and a real treat if you have never listened to it before. And if you have already heard it, then you will find out that it is even better the second time through! Enjoy this Halloween Trick or Treat with the Church of Satan! Boo!
