Mr. Slaughter Salutes Purging Talon

November 5th, 2009 Comments off

Kevin I. Slaughter is a vulgarian and elitist, half son of the South, half child of Mother England. He owns the 3rd largest private collection of vintage Super 8mm porn on the East Coast, plus an extensive library of adult paperbacks. He’s also been a staunch supporter of Purging Talon for most of its 16 years. On his blog, he recently writes

Matt Paradise had a pretty big impact on me through his Purging Talon Publishing. I thought I had a blog that contained my appreciation for his work, but I can’t find it…

I think I picked up a copy of Poo Poo Magazine first, and it was possibly through Atomic Books or Quimby’s, but I would always get the rest direct from then on, and when I was running the Den of Iniquity mail-order company I was putting in wholesale orders from him. I have a copy of deSade somewhere, and then later on his Superhighway to Hell.

I know my first article in another ‘zine was published in Not Like Most, and now I can’t remember if he’s published other articles or if it was just smaller notices. I’m trying to build a list of articles and interviews I’ve done over the years, but I just have “Not Like Most” listed with no further details yet. Either way, he’s supported my work over the years, big time, and I’ve done my best to reciprocate whenever possible.

Thanks, Kevin! Right back at ya.

Purging Talon’s First Podcast: Terror Transmission

July 31st, 2009 Comments off

The Vermont-based media company, Purging Talon, known for its caustic and controversial output throughout its almost 16-year history, has released the first episode of its all-new podcast, known as Terror Transmission.

Terror Transmission is a free podcast program dedicated to horror cinema, particularly classics of the genre and/or those hidden gems begging for rediscovery. Each episode, your hosts will select a film and view it, while providing listeners with real-time commentary, behind-the-scenes ephemera, and a dash of ribald humor. This creepy cocktail will then be edited down to its best elements and presented to you. Other material related to the world of horror will also be featured when deemed applicable.

Terror Transmission is hosted by Matt G. Paradise and Jason B. Andreasson. Paradise, Executive Director of Purging Talon, is both producer and co-host of the show. An avid horror fan for four decades, Paradise’s knowledge of the genre is extensive. Since the early-1990s, Paradise has also had a wealth of experience in the world of media, including self-publishing, network TV, terrestrial and Internet radio, podcasting, and much more, including design and maintenance of this site. Jason B. Andreasson is your other co-host and researcher for the program.  A largely self-taught expert in all genres of horror, he has viewed well over 3,000 horror films, and is currently working on a book devoted to all of this misspent time in front of the idiot box.

Terror Transmission can be heard from both its official website and Apple’s iTunes Store.

Purging Talon Website Updates

March 28th, 2009 Comments off

— Superhighway To Hell has been deleted and all of its significant content has been moved to Diabologue. So, if you have any news, links, or anything else for either STH or Diabologue, you can contact us and let us know. Now, it all goes into one site instead of two. That’s progress!

— The old Satanism Today Video Version website is also deleted. Going to that page will now redirect you to the official Internet radio show’s site.

— Subterranean SINema’s site will still be kept online for the time being, but the Video Clips button now takes you to the Purging Talon YouTube page instead of an internal page with Quicktime video files. If you find any stray links to missing video files lurking in the bowels of this site, please let us know so we can likewise delete them.

— The Sinister Screen site won’t be leaving in the foreseeable future. Stop on by it and check out the reviews. It’s getting lonely.
